Records Retention and LGS-1 for Libraries Online
As library staff, you’re well aware of the rules and guidelines used to catalog and provide access to your collections, but how do you make sure that business records documenting operation of the library remain accessible for as long as necessary to meet administrative needs and fulfill legal and fiscal obligations?
This session will provide an introduction to retention of records created, received, and maintained by libraries, including:
- How to identify records
- Determining how long each record type needs to be kept
- Proper disposal of records once retention is no longer necessary
We’ll also discuss services and resources available from the State Archives, including grant programs for public and association libraries.
About the Speaker
