The Sierra servers will be having scheduled operating system upgrades just after midnight on Monday morning. There will be 4-6 hours of downtime expected.  During that period between midnight and 4:00 AM (to possibly 6:00 AM) Sierra will not be available. This update will not make any changes to the Sierra software itself.  

What you need to be aware of:

• Discover Catalog will remain online for searching and viewing catalog records; however patrons will not be able to login to their accounts or make requests during the hours of downtime.  They will receive a message that the function is temporarily unavailable, and to please try again later.

• Authentication for electronic resources through OverDrive and other vendors will be unavailable. Patrons will receive the failure messaging supplied in those environments.

• MHLS Staff will begin testing Sierra services at 8am and post any important updates to the Notices mailing list.  

The OS upgrade is a necessary step to update the software to current standards for processes and security. We have put additional oversight in place with Innovative to assure our restart is complete and all services are successfully started once the servers are back online.
